Accessibility Statement

This statement was last updated on August 26th, 2025.

Bearing Witness is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all users, including people with disabilities. We believe that remembrance, education, and advocacy must be accessible to everyone.

What web accessibility is

An accessible site allows visitors with disabilities to browse the site with the same or a similar level of ease and enjoyment as other visitors. This can be achieved with the capabilities of the system on which the site is operating, and through assistive technologies.

Our Commitment

We strive to make our website and digital content conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. This includes:

  • Used the Accessibility Wizard to find and fix potential accessibility issues

  • Set the language of the site

  • Added alternative text to images

  • Ensuring sufficient colour contrast for readability.

  • Ensured all videos, audio, and files on the site are accessible

  • Maintaining keyboard navigability throughout the site.

  • Using clear, consistent headings and structure to improve navigation.

Ongoing Efforts

Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We regularly review our website to identify and address accessibility barriers. As our project grows, we will continue to integrate best practices and feedback into our design and content.

Limitations & Disclaimer
